ASTM A105 Forged Threaded Couplings

A Threaded Coupling is a short piece of pipe or forged metal with internal threads, used to join two pieces of pipe of the same size. These fittings are critical in smaller-bore piping systems where the pipe ends are threaded, providing a robust, high-pressure, and easily disassembled joint. The standard for this fitting material is ASTM A105, which specifies Forged Carbon Steel suitable for pressure systems and high-temperature service. A105 couplings are often used in systems that run alongside major pipelines secured by ASTM A193 Grade B7 Stud Bolts and their complementary A194 Grade 2H Heavy Hex Nuts. Couplings are available as Full Couplings (threaded completely through) or Half Couplings (threaded on one end, with a plain end for welding on the other).
