Lap Joint Flanges (LJ Flanges) are two-piece components consisting of a flange ring and a separate stub end. Zeron Fastners manufactures these components through the forging process. The unique design allows the flange ring to rotate freely around the stub end, which is butt-welded to the pipe. This rotation greatly simplifies the alignment of bolt holes, reducing installation time and costs, particularly in large diameter or frequently disassembled systems. The stub end material, which contacts the fluid, can be the higher-grade corrosion-resistant alloy, allowing the flange ring itself to be a cheaper material.
| Design Aspect | Characteristic | Primary Advantage |
|---|---|---|
| Two-Piece Assembly | Loose Flange Ring + Stub End | Ease of Bolt Hole Alignment (saves time) |
| Stub End Contact | Only the stub end touches the fluid | Cost-saving possibility on the flange ring material |
| Pressure Rating | Lower to Moderate | Typically Class 150 and 300 |
