Socket Weld Flanges (SW Flanges) are pipe flanges primarily designed for use on small nominal bore piping systems where high internal pressure is a critical factor. Zeron Fastners manufactures these components through the forging process. The pipe is inserted into the recessed socket of the flange and then secured with a single fillet weld on the outside. This method offers excellent strength and simplifies preparation as no beveling is required on the pipe end. Our SW Flanges are available in high-pressure classes (e.g., Class 3000 and 6000) using materials like high-strength alloy steel (B16) and highly corrosion-resistant nickel alloys (Hastelloy, Inconel).
| Design Aspect | Connection Method | Primary Advantage |
|---|---|---|
| Inner Socket | Pipe is inserted and fillet welded | High pressure/leak integrity, no pipe beveling required |
| Nominal Size | NPS 1/2 to NPS 2 (DN15 to DN50) | Ideal for small bore piping systems |
| Pressure Rating | High Class (typically Class 150 to Class 1500) | Excellent strength against internal pressure |
