Nickel Alloys Monel K500 Lap Joint Flanges (LJ Flanges) are two-piece flange assemblies that utilize a separate stub end (a short piece of pipe with a flared end) butt-welded to the pipe, over which the flange freely slips. Zeron Fasteners manufactures and supplies these specialized flanges from the precipitation-hardenable nickel-copper alloy Monel K500 (UNS N05500). The distinguishing feature of this product is the ability of the flange to rotate freely around the pipe stub end, making bolt hole alignment significantly easier and reducing installation time. Monel K500 is chosen for this application because the highly corrosion-resistant stub end is the only part of the flange assembly that makes contact with the fluid. The primary application of these Monel K500 Lap Joint Flanges is in low-pressure, large diameter, or frequently disassembled piping systems, particularly in marine, chemical, and wastewater environments where corrosion resistance and ease of maintenance are critical.
